AFTER much deliberation, discussion and enlighteneged contemplation, the route has been devised for this year’s Clitheroe Torchlight procession.

After a break of 10 years, the Clitheroe Torchlight is set to make a comeback in August, marking both the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics. The torchlight procession will be the highlight of a full weekend of activities and events being planned for the August Bank Holiday weekend.

A dedicated Torchlight Committee has been formed to plan and oversee the event, one of its first obs being to set the route of the procession.

It will form up in \Chatburn Road, then process along Well Terrace, Railway View Road, Station Road, Bawdlands, Corporation Street, Eshton Terrace, Woone Lane, Moor Lane, Castle Street, York Street and back to Chatburn Road.

With a great deal more to organise between now and August, the committee would be glad of any offers of help, either in the run-up or on the weekend itself. Anyone able to help should contact the committee chairman Ian Woolstencroft on 01200 424722 or alternatively e-mail him at: ianwoolstencroft@btconnect.com

Application Forms to take part in the procession are also available online at www.clitheroetowncouncil.gov.uk

“We hope to make this the best Torchlight Procession, ever so please support it by joining this memorable and historic event,” said Ian.
