CANNABIS plants, a loaded pump action shotgun, crossbow, smoke grenade and around £50,000 in cash were recovered in a police raid on a farm in Tosside.

A 44-year-old man has appeared before Blackburn magistrates following the raid last Sunday.

Blackburn magistrates heard police discovered a cannabis growing set-up at Longtons Farm, Tosside, and seized 20 plants. They also seized a pump action shotgun which was loaded with four live cartridges, a crossbow and six bolts, a smoke grenade and recovered a quantity of cash, estimated to be in the region of £50,000, from a digital safe.

Dahl Jones (44), of Longtons Farm, pleaded guilty to producing cannabis and dishonestly abstracting electricity. He gave no indication of plea to the charge of possessing a firearm without a certificate and the magistrates directed that matter should be heard at the Crown Court.

Jones was remanded in custody. The cannabis and electricity matters will be sentenced at the same time.
