HER Majesty the Queen also visited Burnley in 1955 and 1968.

Throngs of crowds gathered to see the monarch who visited Burnley’s parish church of St Peter’s in 1968, when she also met Burnley Express news editor Mr Raymond Mann.

In her earlier 1955 visit, just years after her coronation, the Queen and Prince Philip made an official visit to Burnley Town Hall.
