IT proved a very muddy affair when Grindleton Primary School pupils helped out with a Woodland Trust tree planting project.

The pupils joined Mrs Ruth Cann and her helpers to plant a hedge and specimen trees as part of the Woodland Trust “Jubilee Woods” project. It aims to plant six million trees to mark the Diamond Jubilee.

The Woodland Trust provided saplings to replace a hedge which had to be moved as part of Grindleton Pavilion Project, and also some specimen trees which included a “Royal Oak”. This had been grown from an acorn collected from one of the royal estates.

Great fun was had by all concerned.
