A CHARITY auction is just one of the highlights of the traditional Burns Night celebrations at The Dog Inn, Whalley.

The Caledonian carousing takes place on Thursday, January 24th, and tickets on sale at £17.50 include haggis with tatties and neaps and not forgetting excellent entertainment from Accrington Pipe Band. Also attending will be regional manager for Cystic Fibrosis, Lara Rigby, who will be receive a cheque on behalf of the charity.

On the night there will be a raffle to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, in particular support of local six-year-old girl Sophie Holgate, who lives with the debilitating condition. Prizes include a £50 Primark voucher and donated goods and vouchers from Sainsburys Clitheroe, Subway, Blackpool Zoo and lots more.

In the charity auction there are some truly great lots to bid for, especially for sports fans. These include:

l A signed photo of the England 2012 cricket squad that played in the Test Match against South Africa.

l A family ticket for any one of Clitheroe FC’s home games this season.

l Two tickets to an Accrington Stanley Home game

l Two tickets to watch one day’s cricket at Lancashire County Cricket Club.

l A round of golf for four people at Wilpshire Golf Club.

l Two tickets for Blackburn Rovers’ home game against Ipswich Town on Saturday February 9th.

l A round of golf for four people at Preston Golf Club.

l A pennant signed by Burnley FC players

l And a bottle of 1993 vintage Leoville Les Cases St Julian, Bordeaux Grand Cru worth £150.
