real ale fans are being invited leave their cars at Clitheroe Rugby Club’s first beer festival, so they won’t be tempted to drink and drive.

The club, off Littlemoor Roar, has plenty of parking space where cars can be left overnight.

The three-day festival, called “Pour of the Roses” with a Lancashire vs Yorkshire theme, opens tomorrow evening, and on Saturday there will be three of the Six Nations big matches on big-screen TV.

The games are: Italy v Ireland, 2-30 p.m. kick off, Wales v England, 5 p.m. kick off, France v Scotland, 8 p.m. kick off.

Wales v England is the main game to watch as England are pushing for the Grand Slam, with a win over their arch rivals.

Two Ribble Valley firms, Bowland Brewery at Bashall Town and Dovesyke cider makers at West Bradford, are representing Lancashire, along with breweries from Lancaster, Blackburn and Darwen.

Yorkshire brewers are from Hetton, Hebden Bridge, Keighley and Ilkley, and two Cumbria breweries will also be there.

The club is hoping for at least 150 visitors each day.

Entry is £5 on the door, which includes a commemorative glass and two beer tokens.

Further beer tokens, T-Shirts and glasses are available to buy, and food is available throughout the event.

Times are: Friday, 5 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, noon to midnight; Sunday, noon - 6 p.m.

A Raffle will be drawn at the event.

Proceeds will help towards the development and support of junior and senior Rugby at Clitheroe Rugby Club.
