CHESS Grandmaster Keith Arkell took on 13 players in a Simultaneous Exhibition at The Brown Cow, Chatburn... and remained unbeaten.

However, the Grandmaster did concede three draws at the event organised by Clitheroe Chess Club, with Paul Timson, Martyn Hamer and Gordon Glover proving equal to the expert on the day.

Special thanks go licensees at The Brown Cow John and Michelle, for hosting the event, where a cake in the shape of a chess board, complete with chocolate chess pieces, was enjoyed by all.

Clitheroe Chess Club meets at The Brown Cow and welcomes playes of all ages and abilities, including complete beginners. For information contact Brendan Brown on 07800830531.
