St Leonard’s Langho Scout Group members and families braved wet weather to walk from Whalley to Bowley Scout Camp to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The walkers each paid £2 and the group set off from Whalley at 6-15 p.m. and arrived at Bowley by 7-30 p.m. where they were provided with a warm welcome of a sausage sizzle provided by parent helpers.

The weather did nothing to dampen their spirits and a total of 60 walkers raised £120. This amount has been matched by Warburtons bakery, who have very donated another £120.

Beaver leader Lynne Harrison said: “Everyone enjoyed the walk, despite the weather, and we had an excellent turn-out. The boys did the group proud for an important cause.”

The money will be presented to the charity at the group’s AGM. This will be held on Thursday, July 7th, at 6-30 p.m. in the community centre behind St Leonard’s Church.
