The winner of the Christmas Shop Clitheroe draw 2013 was mother-of-two Jane Pearson, who collected £50 of vouchers to spend in local shops thanks to the scheme created by Clitheroe Chamber of Trade and Commerce, and promoted by the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times.
Born and brought up in West Bradford, Jane has worked at Ribble Valley Borough Council for 26 years, where she is now Director of Resources. She is married to Andrew, who has a plumbing business and they have two children, Lucy and Ellie.
Jane signed up for her Shop Clitheroe card as soon as it was launched and is a big advocate for shopping in Clitheroe, and now has really got into the habit of getting her card stamped whenever she spends over £5in participating businesses.
Jane said: “I think it is a really good idea to encourage people to shop locally. Clitheroe has some fantastic shops and I feel it’s important residents should support them where possible. The Shop Clitheroe scheme means the more you shop locally the higher your chance of winning. I would encourage anyone who has not already signed up for a card to so!”
Jane collected her vouchers from Helen Catlow at The Apricot Meringue on King Street. Helen said: “We joined the scheme as soon as it was launched in August 2012 as a way to reward our many loyal customers at the café. It has been a great success with no cost to our clientele and as more and more businesses and customers join this Clitheroe Chamber of Trade initiative it can only be a good thing for all parties.”
Jane was intending to spend her winnings on various treats over the Festive Season and to continue to support local businesses.
