Macmillan - An event in support of this worthwhile charity is to be held on Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon at the Memorial Hall. There will be a cake stall and donations are welcomed.

Film club - The next film at St John’s film club will be “Oranges and Sunshine” (15)...A social worker from Nottingham uncovers one of the most significant social scandals of recent times – the mass deportation of working class children from the UK to Australia in the 1950s. Against overwhelming odds, the woman re-unites thousands of families and highlights this extraordinary miscarriage of justice. Starring Emily Watson and directed by Jim Loach. Powerful and deeply moving! This will be on Monday, October 10th, at 7-30 p.m. at St John’s Hall. Entry is by donation.

Auction - This event on Friday, October 21st, is to raise much needed money for the Old School Hall Trust. Promises and pledges are needed, contact John Hyde 878402. The evening starts at 7-30 p.m. and there is an optional pie and pea supper at a cost of £5.

Safari Supper - There is to be a Safari Supper on Friday, November 12th, to raise funds for the Memorial Hall. Contact Kath Molyneux 826898 for details.
