Police are searching for a burglar with grey wispy hair who broke into a property in Whalley while the family were on holiday.

The intruder smashed a window in the conservatory at the rear of the house in Limefield Avenue at around 1pm on Thursday. He then tried to break into the next door property but was disturbed by another neighbour and contacted the police.

Police officers from Clitheroe attended but the culprit had already fled. It is not clear what he stole from the first house. The offender is described as a white male in his late 30s or early 40s and he was wearing dark overalls.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police by ringing 101 or 01200 458766.
