The popular ‘Music in the Afternoon’ series for Christian Aid at Christ Church on Sunday, May 22, sees a welcome return to Longridge for the South Pennine Singers.

The original choir was founded by Geoff Balson in 1988, and since then, with him, many singers have passed through the ranks, performing hundreds of concerts in and around the north of England.

This concert is a special one for the choir as, after 28 years, Geoff is handing the baton on to Sue Temperley, the choir’s co-director.

But Geoff is to continue his close links with the choir as he has accepted to be its president.

Tickets for the concert at £5 are available from Carol Rose on 01772 783680 or pay at the door.

Also in support of Christian Aid Week, Christ Church is hosting a quiz night on Friday May 20 at 7.30pm, when teams of four swill be welcome. Contact John Spencer on 01772 782829 for more.
