Sawley Village Hall Committee and the ladies of Sawley recently held a fund-raising event for Derian House Children’s Hospice, with proceeds to go to its recently opened hospice in Blackburn.

Derian House needs to raise in excess of £1m. per year to provide the consistently high level of support to very ill children and their families. Just two per cent of that money comes from central government, funding the equivalent of four days’ care per year, so the charity has to raise a huge amount to continue its work.

Sawley Village Hall Committee decided to hold a soup and sandwich lunch, as well as a Trash and Treasure Stall and a raffle. any ladies living in Sawley also volunteered to help, with the result that visitors were treated to a large selection of delicious homemade soups, sandwiches and cakes. The event was very well attended and raised more than £1,200 for Derian House.
