With four of its staff at various stages of cancer treatment, a popular valley luncheon club held a fund raiser to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Regulars and staff decided that all the takings for meals would be donated and a raffle also contributed £400. The group enjoyed a delicious menu of butternut squash and sweet potato soup, chicken wrapped in bacon and to finish, a dessert of sherry trifle.
The organiser and front of house manager Jacqueline Wymer said: “We thought it appropriate to hold the fundraiser to give moral support to our staff who, incidentally, are all doing well.”
Pat Kenyon, of Cancer Research UK came along to receive the cheque, which was presented by Jacqueline along with members of the club.
