A Whalley nurse has been given a star accolade in recognition of her caring attitude towards patients.
Lynsey Brown (36), a staff nurse at Calderstones Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Whalley, and who lives in the Ribble Valley, was presented with the Rising Star Award at the 2013 Nursing Times Awards at Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
The Rising Star awards are co-sponsored by NHS Professionals, the Florence Nightingale Foundation and 6 Cs Live!.
Lynsey works with vulnerable adults who are often stigmatised and socially isolated.
She won the award for showing passion when celebrating a person’s strengths and compassion when recognising and understanding their needs.
Judges said she is prepared to challenge inequalities, question practice when necessary and is committed to delivering a service that maintains dignity and respect.
Lynsey said: “I am delighted to have won the Rising Star Award. It is a real honour to win an award at such a prestigious nursing ceremony that recognises the important work of nurses.”
Anne O’Brien, Director of Clinical Governance and Operations at NHS Professionals, said: “It is important to recognise exceptional nurses that go beyond what is required of them, and Lynsey has certainly proved this with her work at Calderstones.”
