A MASQUERADE ball, held at Foxfields Country Hotel, Billington, raised £4,000 for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Entertainment included music by band Wild Honey, DJ Mike Beckett, a “diamond bonanza”, raffle, silent auction and roll a coin for a magnum of champagne.
The ball was one of the first fund-raising events held this year to top up funds raised by the annual Amelia Cup 10k Run. Over the past nine years, in excess of £64,000 has been raised by this event and others, such as the ball.
Events are inspired by Amelia Dickinson (10), of Whalley, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, and organised by Amelia’s parents Samantha and Symon, Gail Bailey, Amelia’s aunt, and friend Siobhan Trickett.
Gail said: “We’d like to express special thanks to everyone who helped make the event possible, especially to our sponsors Mitton Hall Hotel, Gordon Taylor of the Professional Football Association, HSBC, Bowker BMW and Steve Pickles of Waverley tbs. Also, to the brilliant band Wild Honey and fantastic DJ Mike Beckett and to Geoff, manager at Foxfields, for looking after us all so well.
“We are amazed by the generosity of family, friends and supporters.
“The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is making huge progress in finding a cure for this life threatening disease, and we can’t express our thanks enough to those who are helping to make a cure a reality.”
