A new chief executive has been appointed at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Kevin McGee has been named as the man to take over the top job at the Trust which includes Burnley General Hospital and the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

The qualified accountant, who has more than 20 years’ experience in healthcare, is expected to take up the position in mid-September.

Professor Eileen Fairhurst, Chairman of the Trust, said: “This is great news for the Trust and marks the beginning of what I hope will be a long period of stability. I, together with the rest of the Trust Board, am looking forward to working with Kevin.

“He brings a wealth of experience and skill that will benefit our patients, staff and the community of East Lancashire.”

Jim Birrell held the temporary chief executive position after former chief Mark Brearley stepped down in December last year.
