Clitheroe man Roger Wilson chose a Welsh theme for his 65th birthday to celebrate the land of his birth, with a giant Welsh flag forming the backdrop for the party, held at Clitheroe Rugby Club.

Roger, of Siddows Avenue, welcomed family and friends from all over the country to his celebrations and requested that money was donated to the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, where his wife Mandy was treated, in lieu of gifts.

Family and friends gave generously and over £415 was raised for the foundation, which supports cancer treatment in Lancashire and South Cumbria from its base at the Royal Preston Hospital.
