A Clitheroe woman and her pal from Preston are set to embark on a gruelling challenge across the Sahara Desert to raise vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care in November,

Alli Croft, of Clitheroe, and Sophie Bashall, of Preston, will take part in the week long trek across the worlds largest hot desert from
November 2nd to 9th and are hoping to raise £1,900 each for local Marie Curie nurses.

To help raise the funds for the trek, Alli and Sophie have organised a midsummer ball at The Inn at Whitewell on Friday June 13th.

The event will include a four-course dinner, pre-dinner drinks and entertainment until midnight.

Alli said: “This challenge is going to be extremely tough for us. Neither of us have ever done anything like this before.

“Some of the dunes will be greater than the height of Pendle Hill.

“ There will be no cold drinks, no toilets, no showers and extreme temperatures. But it’s all for an extremely worthwhile cause that we really want to support”
