More than 70 people attended an event in Wilpshire held by The Patients’ Group of Blackburn’s Brownhill Surgery entitled All About Dementia.

Our picture shows chairman of the group Julie Foote, who runs a local home care service, Right at Home East Lancashire and Ribble Valley, Whalley Road, Wilpshire, with speaker, Dr Prashant Kukkadapu, a leading NHS consultant and Alzheimer’s expert.

He gave an illuminating talk followed by a lively question and answer session.

“You could have heard a pin drop while Dr Prashant was speaking, everyone was absorbed,” commented Julie.

After a break for refreshments and to look around the stalls providing helpful information from the Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK, Right at Home, Rapid Assessment Team, Health and Wellbeing and Community Nurses, Julie, a Dementia Friends champion, followed up with a session explaining what life is like for people living with Dementia.
