A devoted wife and mum from Clitheroe has lost her battle against cancer at the age of 40.

Mrs Nicola Kerr died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital after battling the disease since Christmas. It was the second time Nicola had faced the illness after being diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago.

She was the baby of our family which makes her loss even harder and she will be greatly missed by so many people

Hotel reception worker Nicola of Brownlow Street was the youngest of five children. She worked at a number of Ribble Valley hotels including Mytton Fold and Foxfields at Langho and Eaves Hall, West Bradford. Earlier in her career she went to work at hotels in Hayling Island and Guernsey where she made many friends.

Nicola’s sister Mrs Vikki Lyons said: “Nicola was a lovely and loving person who would have done anything for anyone. She was the baby of our family which makes her loss even harder and she will be greatly missed by so many people.’’

Nicola and her husband Stephen had been together for 17 years and were married in Jamaica in 2002. Stephen and the couple’s son, George, who is 11, both play cricket for Ribblesdale Wanderers and Nicola was always there to watch them.

A former pupil of St Michael and St John’s RC Primary School, Clitheroe and St Augustine’s RC High in Billington, Nicola also leaves her mum Jean and several other relatives. A funeral service was held last Thursday at St Michael and St John’s Church.
