A CLITHEROE gym took on the best in the country at The CrossFit Central Manchester games and triumphed.
Teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales travelled to Manchester to compete in the CrossFit Central Manchester Games and the team from Crossfit Clitheroe made up of athletes, Phil Hesketh, Howard Green, Emma Burgess and Kim Keegan came out on top in the competition.
And it wasn’t just the team who did well. Laura Fielding, who works in the pharmacy at the Clitheroe Health Centre and who represented the team in the recent European games, appeared in the female category and came third in a competition which featured a number of full-time athletes, making her placing an incredible achievement.
CrossFit Clitheroe co-owner Chris Templeman told the Clitheroe Advertiser of his pride in the athletes’ efforts. He said: “Our athletes took on the best in the country and triumphed despite all of them holding down full-time jobs outside the fitness industry.
“Their achievement is remarkable and we are so proud of them. I wouldn’t want to single any one of them out, but Emma Burgess should be an inspiration to all women; she’s a mother, has a full-time job and is a top athlete!”
