Mystery trip - Grindleton WI’s mystery trip took members and friends to Browsholme Hall where two guides gave a very interesting and informative tour of the rooms, describing the history of the house, its portraits and furnishings. Everyone took a picnic which was enjoyed in the restored tithe barn.

Winners of a competition for an own composed and written poem were Cynthia Openshaw, Catherine Taylor and Mandy Brennan. Cynthia was thanked for organising a lovely outing.

The Clitheroe Area WI Show takes place at Edisford School today between 10 a.m. and 4-30 p.m., with trophies presented at 2 p.m. The show, open to everyone, is a showcase for the many talents in local WIs and the displays are breathtaking. There will be WI refreshments and a produce stall.

Several Grindleton members have accepted an invitation to Rimington WI’s meeting on August 2nd, when children’s author David Webb will be the speaker.

Members are looking forward to a walk on Wednesday, August 3rd, starting from the cherry trees at 6-30 p.m. and finishing with lasagne supper at the Buck Inn at 8 p.m.

At the next meeting on August 11th, Heather Slater will talk about “Life in Saudi as a nanny”. The competition is for an Arabian artefact.
