Swimmers for Clitheroe Dolphins have been going that extra length recently following the appointment of a new head coach.
Since Lee Stringfellow joined the club as head coach in 2016 the club has enjoyed great results and has been promoted in the Micro League Northwest, North West Arena League and North Lancashire Swim League.
Lancashire County Championships 2017 was held over two weekends in January and Febuary at Manchester Aquatics Centre and the club had 20 swimmers in a large number of events.
The swimmers were: Jayden Birch, William Birch, Caitlin Birkett-Bentley, Samuel Case, Jacob Crompton, Saskia Daly, Connor Eccleston, Alice Entwistle, Emma Jackson, Joseph Kenny, Olivia McGinty, Scarlett O'Neill, Hannah Procter, Martha Smith, Hugo Snowden, Jack Stanley, Adam Stansfield, Lucy Turner, Hattie Varley and Millie Wilson
All the swimmers did well with many top 10 finishes and personal bests. In fact, all in all, they reached an impressive total of 21 finals.
Three of the club's swimmers also won medals.
These were Martha Smith who won silver with a time of 28.77 in the Women's 16 Years 50m Freestyle. Lucy Turner, meanwhile, won gold in a time of 34.81 in the Women's 12 Years 50m Backstroke and Hattie Varley won gold in a time of 1:11.57 in the Women's 12 Years 100m Butterfly.
