teenage showjumper Lucy Chambers is aiming for fame after her best competition results.

Lucy, aged 14, from Langho, rode to a creditable fifth position out of nearly 100 competitors in the 75cm jump class in the Trailblazers Championship finals held at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, on her horse Prince of Warriors, pet name Duke.

She got through to the final 45, then had a clear round to gain her fifth place.

Lucy, a pupil of Ribblesdale High School, has been riding since she was seven and uses the facilities at Longsight Livery Stables and Northcote Stud.

Next month she begins her first new season in British Show Jumping Association competitions in the 85cm class. Mum Kirsten said: “Lucy has been thrilled by Great Britain’s equestrian success in the Olympics, especially Samantha Murray’s silver in the modern pentathlon. “Samantha is an inspiration to young riders like Lucy.”
