A CHARITY Golf Day at Wilpshire Golf Club saw 120 people all helping to raise funds for local charities.

An auction and raffle were held, with prizes including a beer hamper donated by Thwaites, the 18th hole flag from St Andrews signed by 7 British Open winners, and a Dennis Taylor snooker cue. The successful event enabled £1,400 to be donated to the East Lancashire Hospice.

“This is a wonderful amount of money raised and we are grateful to all those who took part in the Golf Day and to Nigel Fryer for organising it,” said Jennifer Quinn on behalf of the hospice.

“This is a great example of the local community coming together to support us.”
