Funeral of cyclist killed in lorry smash

RELATIVES and friends will pack All Hallow's Church, Mitton, on Friday for the funeral service of a former Clitheroe man.

Antony Smith (37) died instantly from serious injuries when his bicycle was in collision with a tipper lorry in Hackney, London.

The tragic accident happened at 8-44 a.m. on Monday, April 21st, as Antony was cycling to work.

Antony was brought up in Clitheroe and attended Pendle Primary School and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School. The son of Tony and Suzanne, of Edisford Bridge, Clitheroe, he worked at Ultraframe before leaving for a new life in London.

His funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. followed by a private burial at Clitheroe Cemetery.

It will be family flowers only, but donations can be made in memory of Antony for the London Air Ambulance, c/o Mrs Margaret Dewhurst, 44 Littlemoor Road, Clitheroe, BB7 1ES.
