Tributes have been paid to popular Clitheroe mechanic Graham Harper.
Graham was born on August 10th 1946 in Padiham, the second eldest child of nine born to parents Mary and Harry Harper. Attending Whalley Primary School and Ribblesdale Secondary School, Graham later gained his motor mechanic qualifications at Accrington College.
When he was 21, Graham married Susan and the couple had four children Nicola, Rachel, Richard and Steven. Subsequently becoming a grandfather-of-eight, Graham has lived and worked in the Ribble Valley for most of his life.
As a mechanical engineer his career was varied, mostly working for himself in his own businesses. Diesel Doctor on Mitchell Street, Clitheroe, was his final business.
Graham was the last of the Harper family, who used to run TGB motorbike shop as well as Hill and Vale Camper vans, to be living and working in Clitheroe.
Graham married Carol 16 years ago and has been part of the family ever since becoming a well loved grandma and stepmother to Graham’s family.
Graham enjoyed making and building, especially boats and trikes. He loved the sea and fishing. He will be remembered for always being a family man who gave selflessly to his extended family and friends throughout his life.
Following a well attended funeral, with the entourage joined by Graham’s youngest son Steven riding his Harley Davidson trike in tribute, friends and family met at the Royal British Legion in Clitheroe and donations were collected for RNLI.
