It was an action-packed Easter weekend for the long-established French Connection group.

The group was formed in 1977 when Clitheroe’s Wagon & Horses pub’s football team went to Rivesaltes, which was officially twinned with Clitheroe in 1986, to play football. They were invited by Clitheroe Royal Grammar school French teacher, Francois Sanmartin.

The association has continued ever since and this year marked the 38th meeting of the two towns. Activities included a walk around Malham Cove, watching Blackburn Rovers, a canal trip, cabaret evening at Whalley Golf Club, five-a-side football and a gala dinner at Clitheroe Golf Club.
