A journalist who began his career at the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times has been promoted to a new and senior role within the Trinity Mirror publishing group.
Toby Chapman is taking on the new role of group development manager, having previously been Trinity Mirror’s editorial development manager for regional titles.
“I am part of the senior team charged with shaping editorial strategy in general,” explained Toby, who lives in Helmshore.
“I manage projects of all types, from system upgrades to the implementation of new editorial models and ways of working.
“I am always looking at how we do every part of the journalistic job with a view to scoping out and then introducing new best practices that make us work smarter, be more efficient and more effective.”
Toby began his career at the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times and was sports editor of the Edinburgh Evening News before moving to Liverpool, where he was executive editor at the Liverpool Echo.
Trinity Mirror’s regionals editorial director Neil Benson said: “Toby has a fantastic range of skills, spanning journalism, data analysis, workflow and project management, and his promotion is thoroughly deserved.”
