several junior members of Clitheroe Youth Junior have received their Bronze and Silver Wildlife Action Award certificates from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

The awards were presented in recognition of the youth group’s work over the past three years in clearing out streams and river banks of rubbish and debris, as well as removing unwanted and overgrown vegetation. The youngsters have also built bird and bat boxes, planted trees at numerous locations and been involved in wildlife projects in and around the Ribble Valley.

More than 30 young people received their certificates, much to the delight of Clitheroe Youth chairman Mel Diack MBE. Any young people (aged 10 to 16) interested in joining this voluntary organisation can contact Mel on 01254 823012.
