FOUR sixth form students at Stonyhurst College have been offered places at Oxford University.

The successful pupils are Mary Ann Wootton from Longridge who is the first female ever to be awarded an organ scholarship at St Peter’s College and will read Music.

Alice Grout Smith from Clitheroe has an offer to read Chemistry at Hertford College, and Joe Bell, from Hurst Green, has a place to read Bio-chemistry at St Catherine’s College. Catriona Graffius, also from Hurst Green, has an unconditional offer to read English at Christ Church.

The Headmaster, Mr Andrew Johnson, said: “They have done extremely well, in the face of very tough competition. Congratulations to all four of them, and to their teachers, who have done so much to support their preparation for Oxbridge interviews.”
