Snooker legend Steve Davis was right on cue when he visited pupils at St Augustine’s RC High School.

The six times snooker world champion and I’m a Celebrity star spent time at the Billington-based school in his role as North Lancs Training Group’s (NLTG) Apprenticeship ambassador and to promote “Cue Zone” – an initiative designed to generate interest in snooker and to improve pupils’ numeracy skills.

Steve was accompanied by ex-pupil Grace Lovell (17), who is seven months into her business administration apprenticeship at NLTG.

Headteacher, Mr Michael Wright said: “Steve was very generous with his time, signed cues and photographs for the pupils who were all very excited to see him. Two of our sports reporters, Breanna Howard and Sam Hedges, interviewed him about his sporting career and his time in the jungle. He answered lots of questions about the celebrities he was with in the jungle – especially Joey Essex!”
