Ribble Valley golf pro helps primary school pupils

Waiting for Video...

Pupils from a Clitheroe primary school have been enjoying a round of golf or two thanks to the school’s links with a Ribble Valley golf club.

Professional golfers from Whalley Golf Club have been visiting Brookside Primary School to give the children in each class - right from reception to Year Six – lessons in tri-golf.

The school chose to concentrate on the sport of golf as although pupils participate in a wide range of sports including rugby, tennis, cricket, football, netball and athletics, no one had yet had the opportunity to play golf.

Following on from this pupils in Year Six will visit the golf club during the summer term for lessons and the gain experience of playing at an actual club.

It is hoped some of the children may go on to join a golf club as a junior member.
