The national decline in GCSE grades, following a tightening up of marking standards, was reflected in the Ribble Valley.

Mrs Wendy Street, acting head of Ribblesdale High, Clitheroe, said: “There has been a slight decline, which has been noticeable in English. Fifty-six per cent of our pupils have achieved grades A-C, slightly down on last year, but on the whole we are delighted with our results.”
