A perfect warm summer’s evening was the icing on the cake when Clitheroe Royal Grammar School’s Year 11 Prom was held at Mytton Fold Hotel, Langho.

Students arrived by all manner of transport, from scooters to stretch limos, in classic cars, sports cars and on horseback!

Dressed in sharp suits and ball gowns, they looked every inch the youg adults they have become while at the school and the many parents, family members and friends assembled to greet them were filled with pride.

The Prom Committee, under the guidance of the wonderful Mrs Kinney, had worked incredibly hard to create a stunning room at Mytton Fold, bedecked with baby–blue drapes and balloons. Lilly Dummer’s banner, “The Class of 2014”, was draped across the stage to create a central focus.

Following a delicious meal, Mrs Reeves and Mrs George spoke warmly about the students’ many achievements and Mrs Woollam announced the winners of the Prom Awards. Prom King and Queen were Adam McMeekin and Megan Taylor. the best dressed femal student was Helena Fearnley-Brown

and the best dressed male Ashley Montague. The best dressed female member of staff was Mrs Kinney and the best dressed male staff member was Dr Halstead, whose surprise appearance was greatly appreciated. The students then took to the dance floor with gusto and everyone, young and “a little older”, enjoyed dancing to the strains of old favourites and edgy new tracks.

Mrs Woollam commented: “We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and we wish them well in their future lives and careers. CRGS is a close community and wherever life takes you, you will always be a part of CRGS.”
