A new headteacher has joined St Mary’s RC Primary School, Langho, having spent the last five years as head at St Joseph’s RC Primary School in Hurst Green.

Mrs Elizabeth Stevens, who has previously also worked at St Joseph’s Park Hill School and St Mary Magdalene’s RC Primary School, both in Burnley, said she had received a very warm welcome in her new position.

She commented: “I’ve had a really lovely welcome from everybody and I’m really looking forward to working with pupils, staff and parents throughout the coming school year.

Speaking about her previous post, she continued:

“St Joseph’s in Hurst Green is a fantastic school – it has wonderful members of staff and pupils. However, I was ready for a new challenge and the next chapter after spending five years there.

“I’m looking forward to focusing on specific areas, like sporting development, pupil leadership and obviously academic excellence. The most important part of this job, however, is the development of pupils and their overall learning experience.”
