Chatburn Holiday Club goes from strength to strength with increased attendances each year.

Members of Christ Church, Chatburn, and Chatburn Methodist Church organise a week long activity for children of primary school age during August, and more than 30 children took part in crafts, aerobics, team games, bible stories, songs, learning lines from the bible and competitions.

Refreshments related to the bible theme of each day and included angel cake, chocolate pebbles, animal biscuits and opportunities for creative skills with the challenges of making animals out of fruit, lion’s heads and angels out of paper plates, and making the empty tomb of Christ with doughnuts, marshmallows, biscuits and green icing.

The games included balloon volley ball, dressing up as pantomime characters and an activity involving a huge parachute. Four teams led by young leaders competed throughout the week and the winners were awarded with chocolates.

The club activities proved popular with the children and gave them the opportunity to make new friends, gaining new craft skills and the values of teamwork and respect for others, in addition to the learning stories from the bible in an interesting and enjoyable way. Parents joined in the family barbecue at the end of the week to celebrate another successful Chatburn Holiday Club and there was enthusiasm for a return next year.
