Pupils at Clitheroe’s St James’ CE Primary School were pleased to receive a letter in the post from the Prime Minister David Cameron.

The school’s eco council led an assembly highlighting the ‘Send my Friend to School’ campaign, which is encouraging world leaders to keep their promise to allow all children worldwide to a school education by 2015.

At present there are 57 million children out of school in the world today and it is estimated more than one third have a disability.

Pupils wrote letters to David Cameron reminding him of the promise made.

In his letter, the Prime Minister thanked the pupils for taking the time to address the issue and taking an interest in the lives of children less fortunate than themselves.

The eco council will be following the progress of the campaign.
