There was a Royal visitor at Burnley’s new, state-of-the-art fire station today.
HRH Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, officially opened the Belvedere Road station during a ceremony attended by dignitaries.
The Duke toured the station and was treated to a demonstration by firefighters before unveiling a plaque.
He said: “It is a pleasure to be here and I am pleased to meet the people who perform this invaluable service.”
Station manager Steve Morgan said it was a proud day. “He does appear impressed by what he has seen,” said Mr Morgan. “We’ve been talking about the future of the modern day fire service and how a station like this will be used.”
