RETIRED civil engineer David Openshaw is the new President of the Rotary Club of Clitheroe.
He received his President’s jewel from Immediate Past President John Spedding when the club held its weekly Thursday meeting at the Old Post House Hotel, in Clitheroe.
Having worked in local government in the south of England, David settled in the north after retirement 10 years ago. As his father was a Bolton lad, it was a return to his family’s northern roots.
Taking over as President, David told fellow Rotarians there were some things he would like to change to put his own stamp on the year, but they would not be change for change’s sake. He believes very strongly in the Rotary motto: “Service Above Self”, and that would be his guiding influence throughout his term in office.
