A Clitheroe taxi driver suffered serious facial injuries in a late-night attempted robbery.
Police are appealing for information into the incident, which happened at 11-50pm on Friday.
The taxi driver’s ordeal began when he dropped a fare near Edisford Caravan Park. As he was about to leave, he was approached by two men. One leaned through the half-open driver’s side window and removed the keys from the ignition. The offender then began punching the cabbie’s head, face and shoulders.
The victim, who suffered a burst lip and serious facial injuries, managed to remain inside the car, but tooted his horn repeatedly until the fare he had just dropped off heard him and returned to help. He was also left stranded in his car, while the robbers made off with his taxi keys.
