Taxi driver acquitted of theft of Clitheroe Help for Heroes cash

A TAXI driver accused of stealing £70 collected in Clitheroe for the Help for Heroes charity has been cleared of the charge.

A jury at Preston Crown Court acquitted Perveaz Younis (28), of Marsden Street, Accrington. The prosecution had alleged the money,collected in Clitheroe, was stolen from Kathleen Plant after it was left in the back of Mr Younis’ taxi.

However, the jury found him not guilty of the charge.
