A 38-YEAR-OLD Clitheroe man continued to harass his ex-partner despite receiving a warning from police.

Hyndburn magistrates heard that Richard James Smith turned up at her home drunk, banging on the door and demanding to talk to Helen Walmsley.

She called a taxi to take him home, but eventually had to call the police. Smith, of Bawdlands, Clitheroe, admitted harassment. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Mr Stephen Barker (defending) said Smith accepted his behaviour amounted to harassment, but claimed to be confused by his partner’s attitude.

“On the night he turned up at her address he had been out and during the evening there had been text messages going both ways,” said Mr Barker.

“Last night she turned up at his work and asked him to fix her rear view mirror on her car. He doesn’t know what she is playing at.”
