Police are appealing for information after two attempted burglaries at newsagents in Clitheroe.

Both took place on the night of Friday, February 14th.

The first was at a newsagents shop on Whalley Road where the offenders tried, and failed, to smash the front door window.

They then tried to smash a side door, but again they failed before leaving the scene. The second incident happened on the same night at a newsagents on Henthorn Road.

The offenders smashed a side window, but this was blocked from the inside by
refrigerators and so they were unable to get in.

They then forced open a wooden door, but it is thought that they were spotted by neighbours and made good their escape.

Officers investigating these two offences believe that they are linked due to the time frame and that they were most likely committed by the same offenders.

PC Sally Biggar, who is investigating said, “If anyone noticed any suspicious activity in the area overnight between the 14th and 15th of February then I would urge them to contact us by calling the non emergency number of 101.”
