Man banned from contacting ex-wife in Clitheroe for five years

A 54-year-old man has been banned from contacting his ex-wife for the next five years.

Blackburn magistrates heard Kevin Holmes had breached a restraining order by knocking on his former partner’s door.

And as well as banning any contact the magistrates prohibited him from entering the area of Clitheroe in which she lives.

Holmes (54), of Cocker Street, Darwen, was convicted after trial of breaching the restraining order. He was made subject to community supervision for 12 months and ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work.

The magistrates made a new restraining order for five years which prohibits him from having any contact with his ex-wife or from entering the area bounded by Whalley Road, Littlemoor and Turner Street.

Mr Gareth Price (defending) said there had been a “very hostile” break-up of a relationship after the couple returned from running a business in Spain.

“He was drinking more than was good for him and he accepts that,” said Mr Price. “But it is not a one way street where he is the bad guy.”
