Man assaulted in Clitheroe

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old man was assaulted in Clitheroe.

Around 3-30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4th, the victim was walking along Accrington Road towards the Whalley Arms car park when he was approached by another man.

In an unprovoked attack he was punched and fell to ground, but managed to escape to a nearby taxi office and raise the alarm.

The offender is described as a white man, aged 20 to 23 years, around 5ft 10 ins. to 6 ft tall and of medium to stocky build with short cropped hair.

He was wearing a dark blue t-shirt with bright coloured lettering to the chest area.

PC Craig Swift said: “I would appeal to anybody who has any information about this assault to contact police.

“At this time of night I believe numerous people would have been leaving the nearby Rendezvous night club and I would urge anybody who witnessed this incident to contact police.”
