Reports in the Daily Mail claim that Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans is facing a fourth allegation of sexual assault.

The claim, which emerged on Saturday, alleged that a 22-year-old former parliamentary intern had approached police to report a sexual assault by Mr Evans in a bar in December 2011.

The 55-year-old Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, was arrested on May 4th by police investigating claims that he raped one man and sexually assaulting another between 2009 and 2013. Mr Evans has strenuously denied the allegations and has not been charged with any offence. He is due to answer police bail on June 19th.

The police have said they will make no further comment while investigations continue.
