A motorist on the Chaigley Road at Chipping called police after passing a car on its roof in the middle of the road.

Blackburn magistrates heard that assistant pub manager Emma Ball was still at the scene and admitted being the driver of the vehicle.

Ball (22), of Radclyffe Street, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. She was fined £300 with £115 costs and banned from driving for 20 months.

Mr Richard Prew (defending) said Ball was assistant manager of a pub in Longridge and the inevitable ban would make life difficult for her.

He said Ball had been out in Clitheroe and had no intention of driving.

“She foolishly agreed to give a male friend a lift home to Chipping and on the way misjudged a bend,” said Mr Prew.
