A LATE night cigarette proved costly for a 21-year-old Clitheroe man.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Jake Micha Binks had been out drinking and when he got home went and sat in his car to have a smoke because it was banned in the house.
But he felt cold and drove round the block to warm up the vehicle and was spotted by a police officer and breathalysed.
Binks, of Edisford Road, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £200 with £100 costs. The court heard that Binks gave a reading of 93 in blood against the legal limit of 80.
